| Federal Acquisition Institute accepts PMI credentials PMP and CAPM - FAI |
| Even in today's tight economy, Project Management skills are in demand. In a February survey, "Government Technology" readers ranked PM skills first (81%) in the top-five skill sets needed in 2009. And the federal government wants project managers with PM certifications to run their projects, too.
Here is an excerpts from a Letter from Federal Acquisition Institite to the various Heads of Federal Agencies:
Well-trained and experienced program and project managers are critical to the acquisition process and the successful accomplishment of mission goals. A strong partnership between program and project managers and contracting professionals requires a common understanding of how to meet the government's needs through acquisitions that deliver quality goods and services in an effective and efficient manner.
A well-trained acquisition workforce is necessary to ensure that agencies accomplish their mission goals effectively and responsibly. Skilled program and project managers are critical in developing accurate government requirements, defining measurable performance standards, and managing contractor activities to ensure that intended outcomes are achieved. |
